The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Reporting to the Associate Director for Student Life, the Project Coordinator for Student Life is responsible for the operations of key University Life programs and initiatives, including programs to promote student community building across the University and for ensuring that these programs align with University Life's strategic plan and priorities. This position also supports the advisement of the University Life Events Council, provides student leadership development opportunities, and supports production assistance for University Life's signature events.

Responsibilities



  • Curate, produce, and evaluate a series of events and programs for students focused on community building as directed by the Associate Director for Student Life during Welcome Week and throughout the academic calendar year. Work with the University Life Ambassadors and campus partners to plan and coordinate logistics for these events.
  • Support the Associate Director for Student Life to staff the University Life Events Council advisement and programming.
  • Partner with Student Life department colleagues on the annual recruitment, selection and onboarding of students serving as University Life Ambassadors. Support other full-time staff with training, engaging, and managing University Life Ambassadors.
  • Collaborate with the University Life Communications team on the development of communications campaigns for the student community to promote events and that connect students to information, resources and opportunities.
  • Serve as backup to the First-Year Coordinator in managing aspects of University Life programs and initiatives, including the Pre-Orientation Tutorials and the Community Citizenship Initiative.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned, including backup support for other team functions, such orientation programs and signature events.


This position will require some evening hours during the semester, and very occasional (i.e. 2-3 times per year) weekend work.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of two to four years relevant experience required.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting with a diverse student body and knowledge of issues related to the student experience in higher education required.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate, manage, and implement in a fast-paced environment with careful attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The right candidate is patient, solutions-oriented, and enjoys working with others to build community. Exercises sound judgment and maintains a sense of humor and enjoys working in a dynamic environment.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in events development and implementation is strongly preferred.
  • Highly skilled in building and maintaining relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, conflict management, leadership, and team-building skills, including proactive problem-solving skills.
  • A culturally responsive professional who demonstrates the ability to communicate across differences and interpersonally with a wide range of stakeholders and can grasp differing viewpoints with humility.
  • A desire to contribute to an organizational process of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Interest and experience in designing and implementing high-quality activities, programs, and services for students.
  • Proficient with MS Office, Google Suite
  • Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud (in particular, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) is a plus.
