This position is part of the Space Systems Development (SSD) business unit. SSD develops next-generation concepts and systems to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably.

We're dedicated to developing and demonstrating In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) technologies for the Moon and beyond. As part of a team of systems engineers you will contribute to the definition, development, and execution of Blue Alchemist. You will play a crucial role in all phases of our rapid product development cycle, from conceptualization to formal design, implementation, environmental testing, and final integration. You will engage with teammates and foster a broader understanding of systems engineering to develop products to support requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation activities of complex systems through the systems lifecycle. We work in fast-paced cycles of design, analysis, and integration to deliver a scalable solution. We're looking for someone adaptable, willing to take action, eager to learn, and committed to safety and quality. Your creativity, innovative spirit, and ability to navigate changing requirements are crucial.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilization of Systems Engineering, PLM, and collaboration tools such as (but not limited to) DOORS, JIRA, Jama, Confluence, Windchill, Git, Creo, and SharePoint.

  • Perform complex integrated analysis of Blue Alchemist.

  • Support a broad team by leading the creation of and/or modification of analytical models.

  • Provide engineering support and technical ownership with concept of operations, requirements development, functional decomposition, system verification, validation, integration, and test.

  • Apply knowledge, principles,theories,andtechniquestoadvancethe program.

  • Establish product and processes metrics that effectively measure and improve performance of supporting systems.

  • Identify and fix gaps in existing process, tools, infrastructure, and continually improve solutions along the way.

  • Develop and implement best practices to deploy to the program.

  • Test applications and build test cases and scenarios for successful deployment of solutions.

  • Develop and mature Systems Engineering documentation (such as, but not limited to, Concept of Operations (ConOps), Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP), Verification Artifacts).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics.

  • Industry practice in Systems Engineering tools and processes.

  • A breadth of deep understanding, backed by experience, of the principles, concepts, and methods of systems engineering such as concept development, requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning, and operations.

  • Flight hardware or product experience in at least one focused subject area such as electrical hardware, mechanisms, thermal, structures, avionics, fluids, ground support, etc.

  • Self-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time.

  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful candidates will typically have 5+ years of systems engineering experience.

  • Developed and delivered space flight hardware.

  • Experience in aerospace technology development and maturing it through TRL 4-6.

  • Knowledge in high-current and high-temperature systems.

  • Experience with planetary surface missions and vehicles.

  • Experience in continuous improvement, lean methodologies, and process improvement in a hardware development environment.

  • Experience with software tools such as Jama, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $120,060.00-$168,084.00

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.

Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
