Overview
The College of Engineering at USU invites entry-level or early-career professionals to join our communications team. The PR specialist creates editorial and promotional content that reflects the College of Engineering's reputation as a premier organization dedicated to teaching, research, and outreach. This is a writing-intensive role that requires highly-developed communication skills. The specialist frequently interviews faculty members, researchers, and students across a range of disciplines to develop copy and creative assets for news feeds and social media. Ideal candidates have excellent interpersonal and storytelling skills and can manage a consistent workload of writing tasks. The specialist works with guidance from the marketing director and is part of a broader communications team, including a graphic designer, web developer, and student employees. This position is located within the Dean's Office of the College of Engineering. The role is 100 percent on-site at the USU Logan campus with regular Monday-Friday scheduling.

Responsibilities
  • Develop media and information to publicize the College of Engineering, its departments, research centers, labs, and student and faculty success stories.
  • Develop content for everyday marketing materials such as web pages, reports, email marketing campaigns, video scripts, and recruiting and philanthropic initiatives.
  • Develop high quality social media content for the college and its academic and research units.
  • Lead the development of our annual alumni magazine by coordinating the production of, themes, stories, interviews, photo sessions, and more. Coordinate layout and design efforts with the graphic designer.
  • Collaborate with University Marketing and Communications to disseminate information via news releases, press kits, and media pitches.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, advertising, communications, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least one year experience in a professional media production environment.
