SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

This position serves as the internal technical accounting expert for other departments and provide accounting guidance on non-routine and complex business transactions. This role will assess and lead any new accounting standards implementations for the Company. This role also participates and supports the annual financial statement audit by explaining and documenting the Company's key accounting conclusions to the external auditors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Lead the Company's adoption of new accounting standards.
  • Conduct accounting research and prepare technical accounting memos documenting the Company's Accounting positions for non-routine and complex transactions.
  • Provide technical accounting support across the organization, particularly with complex and judgmental areas.
  • Prepare necessary disclosures related to non-routine transactions for the Company's annual financial statements.
  • Document the Company's annual Service Organization Control process.
  • Provide year-end audit support by documenting and explaining the Company's accounting positions to the external auditors
  • Ad hoc projects




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or related subject.
  • CPA
  • 7+ years of relevant experience; including3+ years of technical accounting experience


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and have good work ethic.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively while remaining flexible during instances of a fast-paced environment and tight deadlines.
  • Be curious, persistent and ask lots of questions to get the right answers.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Master's degree in accounting.
  • 3 years public accounting experience.
  • 9+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience writing technical accounting memos.

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

The salary/hourly range is $135,800-$176,040. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
