Description Children's National Hospital is seeking a Medication Delivery Coordinator with prior experience in medication delivery and Intravenous (IV) / Infusion experience in a hospital. Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Services, the Medication Delivery Coordinator will coordinate deliveries of medications to all off-site clinics and load all medications in automated dispensing machines (ADM) and prepares IV admixture solutions accurately, with the highest quality possible, and in a timely manner for patients in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. The Medication Delivery Coordinator also participates in any other duties related to the dispensing of medications for which the job may require.

Requirements:
*Reports to the Pharmacist in charge
*Must have District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia licenses & national certification (PTCB)
*Prepares IV admixtures as required
*Prior experience with automated dispensing machines such as Pyxis is preferred
*Performs medication management clinic inspections as required
*Monitors expired medications monthly
*Follows techniques and policies to ensure quality of products and personal safety
*Cleans equipment and work area to maintain an aseptic work environment
*Manages off-site clinics medication inventory
*Unpacks and stocks supplies in the appropriate storage areas; restocks drug cart daily
*Updates pharmacy inventory in the system once medications have been delivered
*Removes trash and cleans preparation room according to policies and procedures
*Maintains necessary supplies for the amount of compounding work scheduled for the day
*Working knowledge of pharmaceutical mathematics
*Knowledge of sterile technique and demonstrates aseptic technique proficiency Knowledge of infusion nomenclature
*Knowledge of the safety guidelines for handling chemotherapy and familiar with hazardous equipment and supplies
*Ability to change from one work project to another quickly as required by the workload
*Ability to do high volume of work with few or no errors
*Ability to keep good records for all work performed
*Works well in isolation on tasks requiring patience and thoroughness
*Strong attention to detail follows protocols or procedures precisely
*Works within the limits of technical practice; practices self-supervision and is self-starter
*Practices teamwork both within the pharmacy department and with the internal customs of Children's National Hospital
*Must have valid driver's license
*Prepares CHEMO admixtures as required
*Provides education to nursing staff
*Assists with PYXIS optimization and device troubleshooting
*Assists with maintaining drug libraries
*Conducts medication reconciliation and compiles medication history
*Conducts controlled substance discrepancy review and reconciliation
*Manage barcode scanning and administration databases
*Assists with assessing charges, credits and revenue reconciliation
*Must complete all required DC, VA, MD training for hazardous waste pick-up and sign-off
*Other assigned duties

Qualifications

Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED (Required) Or
Associate's Degree Science related field and 1 year of hospital experience as a hospital Pharmacy Technician (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
3 years Experience in a hospital (Required)
1 year Experience in pediatric setting as a pharmacy technician is preferred (Preferred)
2 years Chemotherapy/IV admixture compounding (Preferred)
3 years Experience with the maintenance of automated dispensing cabinets (Preferred)

Required Skills/Knowledge

Must be proficient in pharmaceutical calculations

Required Licenses and Certifications
