Summary

The Program Manager of Hazardous and Biomedical Waste is responsible for overseeing the safe and compliant handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and biomedical waste within Lee Memorial Health System. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and develops and implements policies and procedures to minimize risk and promote safety. The manager will lead a team and work collaboratively with various departments to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

Education: Bachelors degree in environmental science, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in hazardous and biomedical waste management, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Certification: N/A

License: N/A

Other:

Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other relevant regulations.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to develop and deliver training programs.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and waste management software.

Ability to lift and move heavy containers and equipment.

Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

Exposure to hazardous and biomedical waste materials requiring adherence to safety protocols.

Working Conditions:

oWork primarily within healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and laboratories.

oMay require occasional travel between different facilities within the health system.

oMust be available to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours
