Summary

The Health Educator provides healthcare education to the facility population and assesses healthcare needs, develops educational programs, and performs targeted healthcare education interventions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• The Health Educator plans, implements, monitors, and evaluates health education programs.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare team members to assess and determine health education needs.
• Develops plans and programs to achieve health education objectives and monitors the progress.
• The Health Educator facilitates health education presentations and provides educational materials.
• Prepares progress, status and other reports on a timely and required basis.
• Collaborates with community organizations that promote health education.
• Provides the facility population with access to health education resources.
• Maintains current knowledge on health issues and current trends.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• An Associate degree in Nursing.
• Valid Registered Nurse licensing in the state that the position works in.
• Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred.
• Proficient in collecting and analyzing data and formulating objectives.
• Proficient in developing education materials to promote health education initiatives.
• Experience coordinating and directing activities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Assertive, yet motivating style.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
