Responsibilities

Hampton Academy is a private school for students with disabilities approved by the New Jersey Department of Education serving grades one through twelve. It is our mission to provide services and support that will help our students realize their full potential within our setting and build foundation for success when moving on to higher education, vocational programs or a return to the school district. Intensive clinical support is intertwined with our academic program, helping students to overcome the social, emotional and behavioral difficulties that may impede academic achievement.

Hampton Academy accepts students in need of a small, structured, supportive environment in which to learn. All students are enrolled in Hampton Academy based on their Individualized Education Plans, which are formulated by the home school district Child Study Team. We are an approved Interim Alternative Education Setting and provide classified students who have been removed from the public school.

We are looking for a Full-time Social Worker to assume responsibility for clinical assessment, treatment of designated children, and discharge planning. In this position you will:

  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions for the students, provide case management and sending-district liaison functions.
  • Work with the educational and therapeutic staff, parents, districts, community agencies, and Administration to address students' learning, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • You will be required to use an understanding of the principles of growth and development to evaluate students' age-specific needs and provide age specific treatment in accordance with the Individual Education Plan.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work required.
  • New Jersey School Social Work Certificate required.
  • Licensed or license eligible in New Jersey.
  • Minimum of one to two years clinical experience in individual, group, family, and/or marital therapy.
  • Previous experience in adolescent case management, advocacy, and community linkage/networking preferred.
