Position Summary:
As a part-time Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach in NJIT's intercollegiate athletic program, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach with functions relating to the management and running of a successful Division I Men's Lacrosse program, including coaching, recruiting, student-athlete supervision, and fundraising. NJIT is a member of the America East Conference. Essential Functions:
Coaching
1. Assist with the organization and preparation of individual and team practices, training and competition.
2. Assist in the identification and recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules, and NJIT institutional admissions standards.
3. Ensure that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained during team training and practices.
4. Strive to provide guidance and assistance in enhancing a student-athlete's welfare regarding his personal, academic and athletic experience while at NJIT.
5. Assist with team travel and enforce all established Athletic Department team travel and code of conduct policies when away from NJIT.
6. Perform constant evaluation of team and individual performances.
7. Assist in academic monitoring and support for all student-athletes.
8. Work with athletic training staff as needed for prevention and care of player injuries and other health related issues.

NCAA Compliance: Knowledge of and adherence to all applicable NCAA rules, regulations, bylaws, constitutions and related university rules, regulations and policies.
1. Ensure that the aim and objectives of the sport program support those of the university and are within established university policies, and NCAA Compliance rules and regulations.
2. Adhere to NCAA recruiting and playing & practice rules. Assist with the submission of appropriate compliance documentation regarding NCAA rules and regulations to the compliance office.
3. Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
4. Enforce all NJIT policies and procedures including, but not limited to, general student, staff and department specific.
5. Report all possible infractions of NCAA rules and regulations to the Compliance Officer.
6. Attend NCAA rules education meetings as directed by the Compliance Officer and Athletic Director.
Additional Functions:
1. Assist the Head Coach in the marketing and promotion of the Men's Lacrosse program to all local constituencies including the campus, alumni, local Newark, Essex, and New Jersey communities.
2. Assist the Head Coach in coordinating fundraising efforts for the sport within the guidelines set forth by the Athletics Department.
3. Participate in a minimum of two (2) team community service activities annually.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.
5. Assist with clinics and camps for university and local community.
6. Represent NJIT athletic department at alumni and school functions as needed.
7. Maintain current health care certifications. (First aid, CPR/AED).

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of coaching experience on the intercollegiate level or elite club level or high level collegiate playing experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations and compliance issues.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Valid driver's license & background check.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
