Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Performance Nutrition/Director of Performance Nutrition - Football, the Performance Dietitian - Football (Registered Dietitian) will provide programming and support to the University of Wisconsin Performance Nutrition Program, specifically related to Football. The Performance Dietitian - Football will assist with the nutrition budget directly as it relates to Football, including ordering and purchasing all food, supplements, and beverages. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the daily oversight of the Football lounge, training table, and all fueling products for all Football student-athletes.

They will serve as a primary point of contact for providing consults, meal plans, and dietary assessments for all Football student-athletes, collaborating in the nutrition care process with Performance Nutrition staff and multidisciplinary Football support staff (Director of Strength and Conditioning, Director of Sports Medicine). They will also provide Medical Nutrition Therapy on nutrition-related conditions, including but not limited to:

- Nutrient deficiencies and related anemias
- Food allergies and sensitivities/intolerances
- GI complications
- Disordered eating

In accordance with the Performance Nutrition program, the Football Performance Dietitian may be responsible for the creation of educational materials (including handouts, team talks, information, grocery tours/cooking classes promotion, etc.) and the dissemination of information to all Football student-athletes, coaches, and staff. The incumbent will evaluate all dietary supplements taken by Football student-athletes and provide continued education, and will participate in menu development and oversight for training table meals and snacks provided to Football.


Responsibilities:
Provides nutrition education and counseling including assessment and treatment plan design in a clinical, research, or public health and safety setting to improve health and wellness.

  • 25% Evaluates nutritional needs and treatment readiness and develops, coordinates, and disseminates treatment plans for patients and their families in collaboration with medical professionals and other partners
  • 5% Completes reports related to nutritional treatment, patient planning, and/or medical care according to established policies and procedures
  • 25% Teaches patients and support systems about proper nutrition and helps develop strategies to cope with nutritional needs and problems
  • 10% Recommends referrals, schedules logistics, and secures resources for patients to receive medical care or various program assistance
  • 10% Participates in or conducts dietary research as needed to advance practices and principles
  • 5% Develops and schedules operational work plans and may provide expertise and training and guidance to staff, the community, peers, and/or students
  • 20% Responsible for inventory management of store rooms and warehouse(s), ordering, and procurement of nutrition products and dietary supplements

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree in clinical nutrition, food and nutrition, or related area, granted from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university.

Preferred
Master's Degree in nutrition or exercise physiology.


Qualifications:

Must hold or be eligible to obtain state certification as a Certified Dietitian in the State of Wisconsin as provided under WI Statutes 448.70 through 448.94.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in nutrition counseling with emphasis on sports nutrition and in a collegiate athletic setting. Football performance nutrition experience preferred.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
