Job Description
ECU Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness is seeking several Group Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer
Join our energetic team at Campus Recreation and Wellness ( CRW) as a Group Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer! CRW is dedicated to enhancing the recreation and wellness lifestyles of the ECU community through structured, self-directed, and educationally oriented programs. We aim to foster responsible citizenship, provide leadership experiences, and promote lifelong skills for physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being. Supporting the Division of Student Affairs' commitment to purposeful well-being.
Group Fitness Instructor Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Design and lead engaging group fitness classes for a broad range of fitness levels
  • Provide exercise instruction, ensuring proper form and technique
  • Create a motivating and inclusive environment for participants
  • Promote CRW group fitness programs to the campus community
  • Maintain a clean and safe workout environment
  • Solicit and incorporate feedback to enhance class experiences
  • Adapt to various personality styles and fitness levels
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Personal Trainer Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Develop individualized fitness plans based on clients' goals and needs
  • Conduct fitness assessments and track clients' progress
  • Provide one-on-one exercise instruction and guidance
  • Ensure clients' safety by monitoring proper form and technique
  • Promote CRW personal training services to the campus community
  • Maintain accurate records of clients' progress and sessions
  • Apply risk management strategies to ensure clients' safety
  • Enhance your skills through professional development and training
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
Qualifications:

  • Must be a current ECU student in good academic standing
  • Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification and blood-borne pathogens training within 60 days of hire
  • Demonstrated competency in leading group exercise activities in land-based and aquatic environments

  • NCCA (National Commission for Certifying Agencies) accredited and/or specialty (LesMills, Zumba, etc) group fitness certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
