The Major Account Dev Specialist is a region-based position that has been assigned a named list of accounts and is managed by the Regional Sales Manager. This position is responsible for managing existing business relationships to achieve budgeted sales goals utilizing strong negotiation efforts to preserve and grow existing business. Through a combination of sound retention strategies and securing contract renewals that target greater profitability, this position helps secure our visible presence in the marketplace. Additionally, this position will have responsibility for prospecting and closing sales to new customers as time permits.

Responsibilities of Position:



  • Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction communicating to and working with the Regional Sales Manager and Operations team to resolve unique customer issues or concerns and gain commitment.
  • Further account penetration of existing customers securing additional solid waste and recycling services by matching Rumpke service offerings with customer needs supporting a total waste management solution.
  • Effectively communicate pricing and service strategies working closely and effectively with key region management team members to review and improve profitability ensuring timely implementation and on-going monitoring to confirm effectiveness.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of customer's needs and successfully marrying Rumpke operational service capabilities.
  • Using in depth industry and company knowledge, prepare complex proposals clearly identifying our available services, lines of business, making recommendations on equipment optimization, leasing options and right sizing opportunities.
  • Reduce lost accounts by diffusing cancellation requests.
  • Ensuring Rumpke agreements are in place for new business and renewals are monitored, tracked and secured for named list of accounts.
  • Meet or exceed sales call activity goals for proactive account retention.
  • Increase revenue and profitability by executing sound plans on retention calls to improve the customers' service and/or profitability.
  • Effectively use Rumpke sales tools (i.e. GMS, SMS, Proposal Templates, Pricing Tools, etc.).
  • Update and secure customer service agreements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of external market trends
  • Effectively manage prospects by utilizing the GMS Board to maintain sales pipeline and key information to achieve new business growth.
  • Prepares and provides on time completion of monthly tracking and sales reporting ensuring information is complete, accurate and turned in on a timely basis (mo., qrtrly, and annual).
  • Facilitates and attends regular meetings with key personnel to review, resolve and implement necessary action plan strategies to increase business unit's overall effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:



  • Computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications; AS400 experience, a plus.
  • Proven excellent customer service skills; ability to be persuasive with customers keeping "customer satisfaction" as a guiding factor.
  • Must be highly motivated and a self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to motivate staff and deal effectively with performance issues to meet standards, proven leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional judgment and decision-making skills in areas of personnel management.
  • Ability to successfully coach and develop associates.
  • Must possess a professional demeanor and telephone etiquette.
  • Possess proven analytical/problem solving solutions for the customer and the company.



Physical Requirements in a Regular workday:



  • Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10lbs.
  • Continuously sitting/standing/walking in office environment.



Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:



  • Ability to travel between offices, as required.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.

Qualifications
Education
High School (required)
General Education Diploma (preferred)
Bachelors of Relevant field (preferred)
Experience
Waste industry experience, a plus. (preferred)
Previous database management experience preferred. (preferred)
2 years: Previous experience in Inside Sales, Sales Support, Administrative Assistance, or similar roles. (required)
