We are looking for a licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist able to effectively communicate with all customers and knowledge ofHIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) policies on Confidentiality.

This is a skilled professional position thatprovideshealth care services, using radionuclides toassistdiagnosis or treatment. As a NuclearMedicine Technologist, you will perform nuclear medicine procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretationbyor at the request of a licensed practitioner. Work is performed under the general direction of the Supervisor, ChiefTechnologistor the Director of M.I.

Primary Duties:

  • Operates and documents all aspects of Nuclear Medicine. Verifies that the patient has consented totheprocedure and fully understands its risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up.Verifies thatconsent has been obtained.Immobilizes patients asrequired. Positions patient, respecting patient ability and comfort. Selects andoperatesimaging equipment and associated accessories. Monitors patient during procedure. Providespatient informationpertinent tothe exambeing performed. Prepares patient for procedure.Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients. Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and image labeling. Initiates basic life support action when necessary.Checks and orderssupplyas needed. Participates in data collection.

  • Reports equipment failure/problems. Assistsin training and education.Providesinput for purchase of new equipment, and newhire or new employee through peer interview process.Providespatient education. Maintains knowledge of andobservesuniversal precautions. Access, manipulate,store,and print M.I. digital images. Access archived film from film library. Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patient,self,and others.

  • Maintainsa clean, safe, prepared work environment. Prepares room for procedure. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and procedure table before and after each procedure.

  • Maintainscurrent knowledge, certification, and licensure.Identifieslearning needs in self and initiates actions to address these education needs.Attends hospital sponsored training programs as required by the department. Completes all mandatory requirements, certifications, and licensure within allottedtimefor completion.Works effectively within/between departments.Provides department/unit with information and knowledgeacquiredduring participation with interdepartmental teams and committees.

  • Ensures patient safety.Prepares,identifies and administers contrast media and or medicationsas prescribed by a licensed practitioner.Assists licensed practitioners with nuclear medicine procedures as needed. Responsible for following all protocols to ensureoptimum image quality.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an Allied Health Education Nuclear Medicine programorequivalent.

  • 1-2years' experiencein a hospital setting.

  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology)and/or CNMT Certification.

  • Maryland Nuclear Medicine Technologistlicense.

  • CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation).

  • Experience with RIS/PACS is preferred.

This position has a hiring range of $38.48 - $62.52
