About the Job

The Minnesota Nano Center (MNC), a unit of the College of Science and Engineering, consists of two nanofabrication cleanrooms and several laboratories. The Educational Program Specialist manages the marketing, education and outreach efforts of the MNC. This position works closely with and is supervised by the Director of the Minnesota Nano Center.

The desired start date for this position will be January 6, 2025. Review of applications will begin in early November. Position will remain posted until filled.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Education and Outreach (60%)
* Manage K-12 education programs to include scheduling programs with schools and delivering program content
* Provide primary coordination of microelectronics workforce training programs to include scheduling, oversight of short courses, and consultation on short course content
* Manage the NSF Research Experience for Teachers summer program to include publicizing the program, participant and faculty recruitment, and directing teacher experiences
* Assist in development of new education and training programs in consultation with Director

Marketing (30%)
* Promote the MNC at internal and external events including fairs, workshops, and conferences
* Arrange site visits for potential MNC clients at local companies and academic institutions
* Conduct tours of the MNC for visitors and potential clients
* Manage and contribute to MNC's communications efforts including website, newsletters, and social media channels
* Manage the MNC's user incentive programs to include recruiting and approving participants

Grant Support (10%)
* Assist with report writing, data requests, and assembling presentations
* Represent the MNC at the NSF-supported National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI) meetings

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS in K-12 education or science-related field and three or more years of professional work experience. Professional experience should include assisting with educational and outreach activities in a science-related field, or teaching middle and/or high school science classes.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous experience designing educational and outreach programs in a science-related field
* Knowledge of, or experience in, the fields of microelectronics and/or nanotechnology

About the Department

The Minnesota Nano Center's mission is to support the fabrication, synthesis, and characterization of nanoscale devices and materials for both academic and industrial users. We do this by maintaining state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities, a full tool set for microfabrication, and core labs for research into nanomaterials and biological applications of nanoscience.
