As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS), you'll make a real difference in the lives of individuals on their recovery journey.

Here's what you'll do:



  • Empower Clients: Perform various tasks to assist clients in regaining control of their lives and recovery processes.
  • Build Independence: Enhance the development of natural supports, coping skills, and other abilities necessary for clients to function independently in the community.
  • Assist with Re-entry: Support clients transitioning back into the community after incarceration, hospitalization, or other institutional settings.
  • Advocate and Inform: Serve as an advocate and provide valuable information and peer support in emergency, outpatient, or inpatient settings.


What We're Looking For:



  • Personal Experience: Active recovery from mental illness and/or substance use.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Working with adults with severe mental illness, either as a volunteer or paid staff member.
  • Skills: Ability to work with the public and maintain effective working relationships with agency employees, professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license and use a personal automobile for travel; mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Communication: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, document activities, write reports, and effectively present information.
  • Interaction: Ability to communicate and interact effectively with colleagues, clients, their families, and the public.

CCBHC Model of Care:

Family & Children's Services works to heal hurting and abused children, strengthen families, and provide hope and a path to recovery for those battling mental illness and addiction. You will be working in an innovative and dynamic environment using a new transformative model of care Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). This model is characterized by innovative, team-based approach and whole person care for adults and children with a range of complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Utilizing multi-disciplinary teams, staff work collaboratively to provide a coordinated effort to enhance client recovery. Robust CCBHC services often result in better client outcomes and quality of care due to:



  1. Increased access to care and crisis services
  2. Expanded traditional community mental health and substance use services.
  3. Added Care Coordination and physical health screening for mental health clients
  4. Greater access to Social Services for clients' economic and social needs
  5. Increased specialized services for veterans, those most in need, and those impacted by the opioid crisis.


DRUG FREE WORKPLACE

This job is classified as a "safety-sensitive" position as defined by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not exclude any applicant; however, all employees are subject to the Family & Children's Services Drug Free Workplace Policy and understand they make not make use of this license.
