Geosyntec, a multinational environmental engineering and consulting firm, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Global Quality Manager to work from any of our major United States office locations such as our office in San Diego, CA. A hybrid work schedule in the United States, is available at the Company's discretion.

In this role you will responsibility for scoping, developing, managing, coordinating, and enforcing quality management systems, tools, processes, and procedures across the various operations of the Geosyntec Family of Companies both nationally and internationally. You will establish and maintain system(s) to evaluate, document, and ensure quality processes and practices are implemented across Geosyntec when generating work products with a focus on, but not limited to, client-facing work products. Your additional responsibilities will include such items as the evaluation of Company needs related to quality; evaluation and/or development of processes, systems, and tools to support and document quality and provide for continual quality improvement; alignment of quality processes and documents across various country and practice specific needs to help facilitate project collaborations; and development of processes to evaluate effectiveness of quality tools, processes, and practices. You will manage and support quality systems and certifications established under International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and other quality certification program as well as collaborating and coordinating between various quality programs including ISO and non-ISO programs. This position reports to the Corporate Quality Assurance Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Serve as a technical expert in quality, quality systems, quality certifications, and the standard of practice in the architect, engineer, and consulting (AEC) industry for issues related to quality.
  • Lead evaluation, development, implementation, and continual improvement initiative(s) of quality program and appropriate systems, technical concepts, and approaches to meet quality initiatives.
  • Serve as a technical expert in quality, quality systems, quality certifications, and the standard of practice in the architect, engineer, and consulting (AEC) industry for issues related to quality.
  • Maintain and update Corporate Quality Management Plan
  • Coordinate and assist in the development and maintenance of subordinate quality programs, certifications, or systems (e.g., ISO certifications).
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other quality and risk focused management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001) to establish and bring uniformity, efficiency, and efficacy across the Company.
  • Identify and develop quality programs and systems to support Company markets and practices, including strategic use of quality certification programs to support market/practice growth and/or diversification.
  • Develop and review the approach, scope, schedule, budget, and staff to successfully implement a coordinated global quality program.
  • Provide successful management of an integrated and coordinated global quality programs, including establishing key performance indicators and processes for continual improvement.
  • Work with senior management to strategize on current and anticipated future quality needs and develop a budget and plan to implement.
  • Meet with Company staff to evaluate quality systems, processes, and tools to evaluate utilization, ease of use, overall satisfaction with quality systems, and areas of improvement.
  • Overnight travel:Typically, approximately 20%


Education and Licensure

  • A Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of progressive professional experience in discipline; a master's degree with at least 6 years of progressive experience in discipline; or Ph.D. with at least 5 years of progressive professional experience in discipline. (required)
  • ISO 9001 "Internal Auditor" certification. (required)
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification. (preferred)
  • ISO 9001/14001/45001 Integrated Management Systems, Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification. (preferred)
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certified Manager of Quality/ Organizational Excellence - ability to obtain certification within one year of joining firm. (required)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in the architectural, engineering, or construction industry (required), experience in the consulting industry (preferred)
  • Progressive professional experience including:
    • performing increasingly complex and varied technical and project assignments, supervising professional and administrative employees, successfully managing projects, and achieving success in technical space. (required)
    • the development, implementation, and maintenance of coordinated global quality systems in both ISO and non-ISO environments. (required)
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical and business documents. (required)
  • Ability to author reports, proposals, speeches, technical articles, and correspondence that are professionally written, well organized, clearly presented, focused on the subject at hand, and appropriately describe assumptions, limitations and standard-of-care applied to the document. (required)
  • Ability to make effective speeches and oral presentations on significant topics to senior management, client officials, and other stakeholders. (required)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and logically. (required)
  • Ability to deal with multi-faceted complex interpersonal situations involving clients, regulatory or review personnel, supervisors, or subordinates. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $117,625/year / Maximum Salary: $174,500/year (San Diego, CA)
  • Minimum Salary: $120,265/year / Maximum Salary: $182,390/year (Los Angeles, Oakland, CA)
