Description The Electrical Component Engineer is a critical role in the electrical engineering team that manages the selection of electronic components and monitors component supply chain risk throughout the lifecycle of the components used in SoundOff Signal's electronics assemblies. Demonstrates SoundOff Signal's Core Values in daily interactions with internal and external customers. Works closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing and purchasing departments to select components for new and legacy electrical PCBAs. (ECIA Label and internal identification tracking support). Manages manufacturer part specification and part selection. Considers compliance factors (e.g. Reach, RoHs and others) during component selection. Performs component validation for replacing obsolete components. Manages component approved vendor lists (AVLs). Communicates and coordinates with component distributors and manufacturers to select components and to obtain additional component information. Conducts and communicates component selection risk analysis to cross-department stakeholders. Monitors and analyzes the component lifecycle status for manufacturing and purchasing teams. Communicates and coordinates status and decisions with engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing departments. Generates enterprise change requests/notifications. Able to read and follow SoundOff Signal work instructions. Other duties as assigned. Must haves: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Strong working knowledge of electronic components. Specific knowledge of working within MRP/ERP systems. Must be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with people. Excellent written and oral communication skills. An ability to effectively communicate and present information to internal or external customers (i.e. team members and leaders, management). Ability to pay close attention to details. Relevant engineering experience to essential job functions with schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation software. (preferred experience in Altium and LTSpice). An ability to work well in an engineering team with a collocated production environment. Proficiency in the basic Microsoft Office Suite and Teams. Experience with Jira or similar issue tracking software. Team player with practical, hands-on experience and aptitude. Nice to haves: Previous experience in electronic hardware design. Previous project engineering experience. Previous experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment involving prototype fabrication, validation and/or design support. Technical training, i.e., SAE lighting requirements, SAE vehicle specifications, automotive OEM requirements, DFMEA, and PFMEA. Experience with electronic assembly, PCBA design and manufacturing. Experience working with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks. Able to lift up to 35 lbs. Able to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, rotate and/or reach throughout and entire shift. Must be able to handle and work with small parts. Mostly office environment, occasional light manufacturing environment Fast-paced, team-oriented environment Low noise level in a temperature-controlled setting Some level of domestic and/or international travel may be required Hybrid work location (mixture of onsite and offsite days in a week).
